ABSTRACT
Data on 558 service period records of 101 Nili-Ravi buffaloes kept at Livestock Experiment Station, Haroonabad, Bahawalnagar (Pakistan), during 1985-07 were used in the present study. The service period interval ranged from 30 to 447 days and averaged 210.75 ± 117.29 days. The average service period was the minimum (168.89 days) in buffaloes calving during the hot-dry and followed by 181 days in hot humid calvers. It was, however, the maximum in winter and spring calvers (273 and 247 days respectively). The buffaloes calved in autumn showed 195.78 days service period. The analysis of the data revealed significant effect of the season of calving on service period. The average service period in buffaloes calving during different season differed significantly with each other.
