BRI is mandated for research based development of buffalo. It has started functioning since october, 2005.it has research facilities in the areas of Moclicular Genetics, Progeny Testing Program, Embryo Transfer and Feed Intervention. It is spanned over an area of 3010 acres and has 6 divisions, 3 buffalo farms and 10 project districts for registration and milk recording of buffaloes under Progeny Testing Program.

Mission

Increase income of farmers by raising unit productivity of buffaloes through research based applications in all areas of its reproduction & production.

Focused Area
 
  1. Production of progeny tested bulls for their maximum use in breeding.
  2. Enhancing reproductive efficiency
    – use of Ultrasound for detection of early pregnancy
    – Estimation of P4 & E2 through ELIZA.
  3. Embryo Transfer
  4. Mechanization in Agri. & Dairy Operations (use of fodder cutter, machine milking of buffaloes).
  5. Buffalo Meat Production – Feedlot fattening – On Farm/Off Farm.
  6. Training farmers at their doorsteps.
  7. Motivation of farmers through Buffalo Mela/Bull Show/Farmer Day.
